Updates from Portside PT

It's not been long since our last update email but we have more news to share with you!

Research Participants Needed

As some of you know, Phoebe is currently doing her PHD at the University of Sussex. She is in need of some research participants to take part in one of her studies so please see below if you’re interested in helping out in the name of research.

Hello everyone!

I am looking for three women and three men, who do at least one personal

training session per week, to help me test a questionnaire I have adapted to

measure perceived body acceptance by personal trainers. This study is being

conducted by me (Phoebe) in my role as a PhD researcher, not in my role as a

personal trainer at Portside PT.

Participation involves a 30–40-minute informal interview at the Portside PT

studio, where you would be asked to think out loud whilst filling out a short

questionnaire, as well as being asked about your understanding and

interpretation of the different questions.

Any data collected will be kept strictly confidential. Participation is completely

voluntary and whether or not you participate will not affect your PT sessions in

any way.

This study would contribute to a larger project researching feelings about the

body in the personal training context. Please note, due to the nature of the

questions, this study is not appropriate for anyone who currently trains with

me. The study is also not appropriate for anyone with a history of, or a current

eating disorder or body dysmorphic disorder.

If you are interested in participating and would like more information, please

contact me (Phoebe Gray) on phoebe.gray@sussex.ac.uk, NOT via Portside

email addresses or my mobile.

Thank you so much for reading!

Best wishes,

Phoebe
