What does it feel like to get coached by one of our Personal Trainers at Portside?

We like to think first and foremost, we take your needs, goals and fitness levels into account when you first walk into our studio. Like a lot of other fitness coaches and personal trainers in Brighton and Hove, our team look to find the best ways to help you reach your goals as an individual as opposed to using a one-size-fits-all approach.


The main difference comes once we’ve found the best way forward for each of our clients- we deliver our Personal Training sessions in a fun and friendly environment which means our clients love the journey as much as the results.


Ultimately we give you the tools and encouragement you need in order to start making small changes to your routines and training which add up to produce some great progress, both physically and mentally.

Your personal trainer is more than just a fitness coach. We build a strong relationship with each of our clients in order to help with things like your views on exercise and training in general.


The encouragement you’ll receive will totally change the way you think about getting coached by a fitness professional, whether that’s performance coaching, strength training or just changing the way you feel about yourself on a day-to-day basis.

We focus less on what you look like and more on how you FEEL. In our experience, the way you feel about yourself is so much more important than the way you look. If you’re feeling great about yourself then the likelihood of keeping up with exercise and training will help you continue on your journey. The side effects of this feed into the physical changes which happen with sustained exercise, activity and healthy eating.


The mental health aspects of exercise turn into an upward spiral of encouragement and motivation. The longer you’ve been exercising, the more routine it becomes in your life and as the great philosopher Epictetus once said: “every habit and capability is confirmed and grows in its corresponding actions, walking by walking, and running by running . . . therefore, if you want to do something, make a habit of it”.


So that’s exactly what we help you do. Our personal trainers help you build a routine and healthy habits which ultimately start snowballing until you can’t imagine life without some sort of exercise or activity. Once this is the case, there’s really no turning back!

Above all else, we make our personal training sessions fun, exciting and interesting as well as providing a safe space for you to try new things and explore avenues which you wouldn’t necessarily try without the guidance support and coaching from your personal trainer.


Included in each package you'll get weekly sessions so you can have some accountability to stop missing workouts as well as staying motivated to keep up with your exercise routine. Your trainer will write a workout programme specific to your needs, goals and fitness levels which will be stored on our workout programming app.


You'll have full access to your plan of action as well as a clear structure to keep you progressing from week to week and month to month. If you want to work out by yourself alongside your personal training sessions, you can use the app to complete your personalised workouts, adding in your workout data to help us keep track of strength and fitness progress through your time at Portside!
