Portside Personal Trainers: Our Services

Starting up with a Personal Trainer is a great way to boost your progress, learn new techniques, keep track of improvements, help keep you motivated and much, much more. A lot of people still don't know what you'll get with Portside Personal Training, what our packages are and why we're different from other Personal Training studios in Hove, Portslade and Brighton.

A lot of people consider personal training as a luxury, whereas we feel like it's more of an investment. It's an investment into your future, your quality of life, your movement & mobility and your self-confidence.!

We're not saying that you need to use a PT for the rest of your life but it's definitely a good idea to work with a trainer for as long as you can, especially if you're completely new to exercise. Working with a trainer will give you a solid foundation to work from as well as improving your knowledge and confidence with exercise in general.

We offer all our enquiries a no-obligation trial session to discuss your goals and the best ways to reach them as well as exercise preferences, training history and injuries. This helps us pinpoint exactly what goals you want to achieve and more importantly, why you want to achieve them. Goal setting is one of the finer things which is often overlooked when starting training, most people jump straight into it without much thought of what they want or how they can achieve it. By setting clear, time-bound and achievable goals our clients will know what they want to achieve, therefore our trainers can design the perfect programme accordingly.

So after we've set your goals the next step is to write your bespoke programme. This will be different for each and every client, catering to each individual's needs, goals and fitness levels.

There is no one size fits all approach when it comes to health and fitness which is why we pride ourselves on our level of personalisation in comparison to other fitness studios.

Your programme will include the types of exercise which are effective AND enjoyable based on your needs, goals and fitness levels.

In order to track progress, we take your physical measurements alongside photos and body composition analysis using digital scales (Tanita). After every 4 week interval, your progress will be tracked to ensure you're making the right progress towards your health and fitness goals. Most of our clients lose between 2-3kg each month, whilst this might not seem like a lot, the main benefit of this slightly slower rate of weight loss is sustainability!

Rapid crash course weight loss is never sustainable, whereas the steady approach is not only more manageable with day to day life but you'll keep the weight off for good!

When it comes to the nutrition side of things, we're never looking to drastically overhaul your diet. We want to make small changes that lead to big differences over time instead of putting you on a massively controlled diet that you'll never stick to. The way we do this is by asking you to fill out an honest food diary for a week. We'll take a look at your eating habits and suggest some areas which could be changed slightly to help you start moving towards your goals. This way you'll never feel overwhelmed with a big change and you can start to incorporate your new habits and small changes into day to day life with ease.

Overall, our approach is a super simple one. We look to make small incremental changes to our clients' routines to promote a healthier and more active life. We help clients stay accountable, motivated and on track whilst giving you the tools you need to get results.
